Okito Wedi, Founding CEO: Crtve Development
This year’s United Nations climate change talks (COP27) are “full of hope and anger”, said Okito Wedi, a medical doctor and founding CEO of Crtve Development, a communications company.
Wedi said she had found clocks placed around the COP27 venue in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, and they were counting down to 2030 – the year by which the global community must have attained the United Nations’ (UN’s) Sustainable Development Goals, adding that it was “terrifying” because of the sense of urgency they created.
Wedi asked the audience whether they could “sit with the uncomfortability of the moment” in which the world community found itself, with so much to do to ensure the future of humanity and the planet.
Innovative solutions and partnerships were needed if all that was needed to be done was to be achieved, she said.
