Climate 360 – attracting sustainable EU investments in South Africa for a green and just transition – the role of sustainable finance taxonomies, 11 November 2022
This closed half-day event in Pretoria, with 50 invited delegates in attendance, will focus on the National Treasury’s new South African Green Finance Taxonomy report, which is aligned with the EU Taxonomy, a foundational tool of the European Green Deal.
A green finance taxonomy is a classification system that defines a minimum set of assets, projects, activities and sectors eligible to be defined as “green” in line with international best practice.
With support from the European Commission, EU Taxonomy experts have carried out a study assessing the similarities of the two taxonomies to increase clarity and transparency for international and local investors, and ultimately facilitate sustainable finance.
